Consider the Donkey
Seattle-based professional outdoor recreation and lifestyle photographer Chase Jarvis put together this half-hour video discussing how he shuffles his gear from here to location:
It's contains a lot of great information, especially for those who travel and photograph overseas.
If you don't have time for the 30-minute Advanced version of the video, Chase also posted a truncated, ten-minute version to YouTube.

Awesome Video! I love the title "Consider the Donkey". It looks like Chase and his crew consider the donkey and every other variable that could possibly arise. Thanks!
With the amount of experience Chase has shooting out-of-country, I wouldn't be surprised if he has camel specific baggage.
It's become a mini mission to propagate that saying. "Consider the Donkey." We're making tshirts and since you are an early adopter I thought I'd send you a picture of a donkey that scott and I --very ironically-- ended up photographing for an ad shot in Chile only days after filming the packing vid...
The Donkey in Question.
Oh how strange and funny the world is...
Now all we need is a beautiful, nude woman, and a bed covered with "Consider the Donkey" T-shirts to preempt PETA's fairness in treatment to pack animals campaign.
Yes, one with PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals?
Just kidding.
"Consider the Donkey" is a cool tagline though.
Chase Jarvis seems like a nice guy. I wonder if he'd be willing to lend me the $5,000 or so to buy all these bags and cases.
But I guess there would be no need for the bags and cases without the equipment. Maybe he could lend me $50,000 - $60,000 for that, too :)
